1959 Ford Fairlane 500

The Ford Fairlane Skyliner 500 is truly automotive history, the first domestic (and second ever, after the 1938 Peugeot 402) mass-produced convertible with retractable hardtop. The retractable hardtop was at the time exclusive to Ford, marketed as the “Hide-Away Hardtop”. This 1959 model enjoyed the loving care of one family for over 60 years!! It was garage-kept the entire time, driven very few miles over the last 30 years. The entire drivetrain, plus brakes & various other components, were rebuilt or restored 11 years ago, and everything is still in great shape! The car wears its original paint & brightwork, which show minor blemishes consistent with a 63 year old vehicle! A unique feature of this vehicle are the twin tow bar attachments permanently affixed to the front frame members, added by the owner back in the ‘80s, that accommodate flat-towing with the driveshaft removed.
